Now this is something we do not see all too often, a ‘Coca Cola’ 25 Years signed Oyster Perpetual. Even better, the watch came from the family of the first owner and we have the full story on paper. The original owner (J. Blom) started as a chemist for Coca Cola at the end of the ‘30s, he worked there until his retirement in the end of the ‘70s. During his career he became head chemist of regions West Europe and North Africa. He was one of the people who actually knew the recipe of the drink, very unique at the time due to high secrecy. Funny is that he never drank Coca Cola, for whatever reason you can imagine! His willpower and dedication for the company granted him this watch in 1964.
It is clear that J. Blom nor his family did not wear this watch very often. The 14k yellow gold case is in amazing and some dare say unpolished condition. It has very fat lugs and the bezel is still very sharp. A bit of oxidation on the back of the lugs hints towards it being kept in a safe or drawer for some time. The caseback is engraved with ‘J. Blom May 22, 1964'. Furthermore, the dial is in very good condition for the age also coming with the original dauphine hands. We have seen multiple variants of this Coca Cola dial, but this one is unique due to not mentioning the word ‘service’ in the ‘25 years’ row. For us, this balances out the dial even better, an amazing piece to look at with a little wink towards its rich history. This Oyster Perpetual comes on the pictured Bulang and Sons strap. The movement has been checked and regulated by our watchmaker.
