An important step in the Quartz story…

This is a very interesting and rare Piaget with Onyx dial and Beta 21 movement. Piaget is well known as being one of the preeminent makers of stone dials and this white gold, triple step case houses a flawless dial made in onxy, simply signed Piaget.

It’s not only interesting on the outside however; the watch houses a Beta 21 movement. In the early 60s, a number of prominent brands collaborated on the development of what became known the Beta 21 movement at the Centre Electronique Horologer (CEH). By the end of the 1960s approximately 6000 Beta 21 movements had been made, each virtually identical (except a few minor modifications on a brand by brand basis) and they were put into production. Patek used it in their Cercle d’Or, Omega in their Electroquartz pieces and Rolex in the 5100.
This Piaget is fitted with the original leather strap with white gold Piaget buckle and has been fully checked by our watchmaker and a new battery fitted.
