Malèna is an Italian coming of age drama of a teenage boy falling in love with the wife of a soldier missing in action, and how he secretively watches her while her life tumbles down into depravity as she's taken advantage of by the men of the village and hated by the women in order to survive.  It's a film that made Monica Bellucci an internationally known actress and one of her best films.
